Black & Gold Pair of Bodies
These black & gold brocade "bodies" are a good example of mid-Tudor period corsets. Complete with synthetic baleen bones, a wooden busk at center front for support, and dozens of handsewn eyelets. Worn over the shift, this structural garment not only gently compresses the body into a smooth, cylindrical shape, but it also evenly distributes the pressure from the weight of countless yards of fabric onto the hips where its most comfortable.
